Wikis or Blogs?

I would not say that one is better than the other. It is just that we use them with different purposes. Both of them are web 2.0 tools that aim at promoting collaboration on the web. These tools offer the possibilities to easily share ideas or experiences to the world. In my experience, blogs are more unidirectional than wikis. While in a blog it is just one person posting, in a  wiki a group of people gather to collaborate in building knowledge or interacting to make connections. For educational purposes, wikis are more useful to promote collaborative work. I have used them before to make groups agree on one topic and work on projects where everyone has to complete one task. This needs to be guided very well if we want our students to really create a sense of collaboration, avoid plagiarism and build meaningful knowledge about the topic. Wikis and blogs can be used as complementary tools in the same activities, tasks or projects. We just need to set clear instructions.

Also coming to classes and having to work on posters in groups was engaging and very motivating.  I wish we could do more of that.  I found it more meaningful, a
